Privacy Policy

Taqs is a weather app. It does not require an account and does not include advertising or analytics.

Location

If you tap “Use my current location,” Taqs asks Android or your browser for foreground location access. You can choose approximate or precise access where your device offers that choice, deny the request, or later change it in your device settings. Taqs does not access location in the background.

The coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud to identify a nearby place and to Open-Meteo to retrieve the forecast. Taqs does not operate a server that stores your location. These providers process the request under their own privacy practices: BigDataCloud and Open-Meteo.

Search and weather requests

When you search for a city, the search text is sent to Open-Meteo’s geocoding service. Forecast requests send the selected city’s coordinates and unit preferences to Open-Meteo. The app also loads fonts from Google Fonts when an internet connection is available.

Information stored on your device

Taqs saves your selected place (including its coordinates), temperature units, and theme in the app’s local browser storage so they are remembered on your device. You can clear this information by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app. Taqs does not send these saved preferences to an account or its own server.

Sharing and retention

Taqs has no account service and does not sell personal information. Location and search requests are sent only to the service providers described above to return place names and weather data. Their handling and retention are governed by their policies.

Children and policy changes

Taqs is a general-purpose weather app and is not designed specifically for children. If the app’s data practices change, this policy will be updated at this address with a new effective date.
